➀Purpose

Surface treatment improves mold productivity and extends mold life

②Key Points for Implementation

TOWA Corporation’s proprietary Bansera Coating technology significantly improves the durability, release properties, and stain resistance of molds compared to conventional coatings. It is beginning to be utilized in a wide range of fields, including not only molds but also tablet presses for pharmaceuticals, mechanical sliding parts in equipment, and surface treatments for glass and other materials.

③Examples

Comparison of Bansera Coating and Hard Chrome Plating

Comparison of release force and shot count using molds made from thermosetting resin (EP epoxy resin)

④Results

Compared to the surface hardness of 1050 HV achieved with conventional hard chrome plating, Bansera offers a hardness of 2440 HV—more than double. It provides excellent wear resistance and, with a water contact angle of 96–105°, exhibits high water repellency and stain resistance. It also prevents issues such as resin adhesion caused by clogged air vents, flash buildup, and discoloration of the cavity bottom, while reducing demolding resistance by as much as 60%. Bansera’s superior durability, demolding properties, and anti-fouling capabilities eliminate molding problems and reduce the frequency of mold cleaning to one-eighth of the previous rate. In addition to ensuring stable product quality, it contributes to improved maintainability and extended mold life.
