➀Purpose

By adopting modular components for the slide mechanism of plastic molds—specifically the “CUMSA Compact Slide and Mini Slide” products distributed by Nippon Mold Industry—
it becomes possible to arrange the slides in a space-saving configuration,
enabling smaller molds and reducing the workload associated with assembly and adjustment.

②Key Points for Implementation

  1. Streamlined Design
The compact slide mechanism—unlike conventional slide components—simplifies design and saves space. It accommodates mold designs with space constraints. The use of standardized parts reduces labor hours and shortens the design cycle.
  2. Simplified Manufacturing and Assembly
High-precision, modularized components reduce the effort required for machining and assembly. There is no need to manufacture custom slide mechanisms, and the position of product inserts is automatically adjusted within the mold. This ensures a smooth assembly process.

③Examples

Conventional slide structures required a large amount of space to accommodate the slide mechanism,

which imposed significant constraints on the design of multi-cavity molds and small-sized molds.

The CUMSA Compact Slide and Mini Slide adopted in this project feature a compact design that significantly reduces the space required for installation within the mold.

This enhances design flexibility even for multi-cavity molds and enables optimal component placement.

Furthermore, the high-precision modular structure reduces installation time to less than one-tenth of what it used to be and eliminates the need for the complex adjustments previously required.

Since insert positions can be automatically adjusted within the mold, the effort required for assembly has also been significantly reduced.

This technology enables mold production with short lead times and contributes to the establishment of an efficient production system.

④Results

・The space-saving slide mechanism provides greater design flexibility for multi-cavity molds, enabling more efficient layouts than before.
・The reduced effort required for assembly shortens mold adjustment time and prototyping periods. This makes it easier to meet tight deadlines and improves the flexibility of production schedules.
・The use of standardized modular components makes part replacement easier and reduces the long-term maintenance burden.
